Our Team


Patrick Hart is originally from Memphis, Tennessee, where he battled addiction for 10 years. He has been in recovery from his own addiction since 2006. Patrick received his education in addiction counseling from UCLA and completed all coursework with the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC) through Centaur University. He began as a Counselor at Sober College in 2007, and since founding Day By Day Living in 2008 has worked extensively with troubled adults and adolescents struggling to overcome addictive behaviors. He is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the NCCPT.


Patrick has the distinction of surviving extreme trauma, violence and homelessness. He possesses the firsthand knowledge of the commitment and focus that is required to reinvent oneself when one’s life becomes unmanageable, or has been violently interrupted. His personal experience combined with his training makes him uniquely qualified to guide troubled clients through the process of reclaiming their lives.



Mollie Birney has been involved with the addiction recovery field since 2009. She comes by her specialization in eating disorder recovery honestly, having battled her own eating disorder for years, from which she has been in recovery since 2007.  She holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in addiction and eating disorders from Antioch University, Los Angeles, and a BA from Tufts University.  Additionally, she has completed coursework for her Certification in Intuitive Eating. Her treatment-oriented and therapeutic experience includes work as an Outreach Administrator and Event Speaker at the Multi-service Eating Disorder Association in Boston, an Primary Therapist and group facilitator at Axis Treatment Center in West LA, Eating Disorder Companion work through Joie Meal Support, Community Mentor and group a facilitator at Breathe Life Healing Center in West Hollywood.  Prior to joining Patrick Hart Consultants in 2015, Mollie also had a private coaching practice focused on eating disorder recovery, providing counseling, coaching and treatment placement. Her extensive experience, both personally and professionally, grants her a unique insight into the battle faced by individuals and families suffering from the full range of eating disorders, including the many forms of Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, Orthorexia, Exercise Addiction and Anorexia.


Luke Chittick has been working in the recovery field since 2009. Luke started in this industry as a Counselor at Beit T’Shuvah, one of the largest non-profit residential Treatment facilities in the nation, where he acquired over 6,000 clinically supervised hours. In December 2012, Luke joined Transcend Recovery Community as the Program Director for two of their Sober Livings.  In his capacity as Program Director, Luke oversaw operations for the two facilities, facilitated communication between the Intensive Outpatient clinicians and house staff, and ensured continuity of care for all residents. Luke’s role often required therapeutically-oriented intervention with clients in need of additional support. In July of 2015, Luke, along with the Chief Operating Officer of Transcend, created and implemented a comprehensive recovery curriculum for a new sober living called, the Verve, with particular attention to the structure, necessary therapeutic programing and accountability required for the early stages of recovery. Luke later transitioned to Director of Business Development for Transcend in January 2016. In November of 2016, sparked by the desire to return to more clinically-focused and direct client care, Luke joined Patrick Hart Consultants as a Recovery Consultant. His extensive experience with clients suffering from substance abuse, anxiety and psychotic disorders provides him a wealth of strategies and interventions to employ with individuals and families in crisis. He is a certified Field Model Crisis Interventionist, holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and has been sober since 2009.

Luke Chittick


Taylor Marciano has been working in treatment industry since 2013. Taylor started by working as a counselor at Creative Care in Malibu where she worked with a dual diagnosis population. In 2014 Taylor began working at Cliffside Malibu as a resident advisor. In under a year she was promoted to Lead Resident Advisor and began specializing in crisis intervention. In 2016 Taylor moved to CAST Centers in West Hollywood as their Director of Residence. Taylor helped get CAST Centers accredited by the Joint Commission and ran the day to day operations of their live in residence. Within 8 months Taylor was promoted to Director of Ancillary Services. She facilitated multiple interventions and managed the sober companion department of the company. At CAST she worked with both primary mental health clients and severe substance abuse cases. In September 2017 Taylor wanted to work with clients on a more one on one basis so she joined the team at Patrick Hart Consultants.


Bruce Gregory, Ph.D. has been a licensed marriage, family therapist for forty-five years, working with individuals, family, or organizations. He was the Director of the Master Program at Ryokan College for twenty-five years. He has worked in the addiction/recovery field for twenty-five years, and has trained the staffs for Promises, Cliffside and Pat Hart Consulting. His specialties in the addiction/recovery sector include working with high llevel executives, struggling young adults, and families needing systemic healing involving learning healthy communications skills, accountability, and the repair of trust. Bruce has been a regular workshop presenter for the Ericksonian Foundation for twenty-five years, presenting workshops on the integration of Ericksonian Mind-Body Hypnotherapy with other therapeutic disciplines, tai chi, Tibetan

Buddhist meditation, and quantum physics in the treatment of resistance, trauma, and addiction. He has been a corporate behavioural specialist for thirty-five years working with companies that include American Express, Xerox, and Travelers Insurance. He has published a series of articles integrating Ericksonian Mind-Body Hypnotherapy with classical music composition theory, Tai Chi, Tibetan Buddhist Meditation, mathematics and quantum physics.

He has also been a workshop leader at Esalen Institute, presenting workshops in the Art of Leadership, the Transformative Power of Grief, and activation of the Core Self.
